The Law "On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the improvement of the anti-corruption system in the Republic of Uzbekistan" was approved by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.
According to the law there were made amendments and additions, 1 code and 9 laws, in particular, "On the Prosecutor's Office", "On the Rules of Procedure of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan", "On the Rules of Procedure of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis", "United Nations Convention against Corruption(New York, October 31, 2003) On Accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan, "On Detention in Criminal Proceedings", "On Crime Prevention", "On Parliamentary Oversight", "On Combating Corruption" and "On Administrative Imprisonment", as well as amendments and additions to the Criminal executive Code.
These changes and additions include:
Incentives for those who provide information on corruption offenses shall be provided in accordance with the procedure established by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
Confidentiality of information about persons who have reported corruption offenses, social and legal protection of their health, life and property of themselves and their close relatives by the state;
Employees of the Anti-Corruption Agency shall be granted the right to unimpeded access to places of detention and imprisonment, penitentiary institutions and access to documents for the purpose of studying and analyzing the causes and conditions of corruption;
Assault on persons reporting corruption offenses and their close relatives for providing information on corruption offenses, as well as harassment by the employer, unjustified dismissal, transfer to another job, attestation, change of working conditions, refusal to appoint to a higher position, reduction of wages may result in liability established by law;
To authorize the Anti-Corruption Agency to make mandatory submissions to suspend or cancel the implementation of decisions of the executive and economic management bodies and their officials in case of signs of corruption;
The Agency is responsible for the prevention of violations related to the use of budget funds, the sale of public assets, public procurement, public debt, the implementation of investment projects and the implementation of government programs;
Amendments and additions were made in connection with the task of the Anti-Corruption Agency to organize the creation of a National Corruption Perceptions Index, which together with civil society institutions will assess the level of corruption in the regions, sectors of the economy and other sectors.
The law also defines additional powers of the Anti-Corruption Agency.
The law will come into force after it is signed by the President.
