A delegation of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan is currently on a working visit to Slovenia. During the visit, a meeting was held with the leadership of the Commission for the prevention of corruption of the Republic of Slovenia.
Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency Akmal Burkhanov told about the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan, including the introduction of effective anti-corruption mechanisms, improving the legal framework of the sphere and the implementation of international best practices in this sphere.
Robert Shumi, Chief Commissioner of the Slovenian Commission for the prevention of corruption, noted the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Slovenia, and provided detailed information on Slovenia's experience in combating corruption.
The Slovenian Commission for the prevention of corruption also made a presentation on important areas of anti-corruption, such as declaration of income of civil servants, ensuring the principle of integrity in the civil service, prevention of conflicts of interest and its application in legislation.
During the meeting, a Memorandum of understanding was signed between the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Commission for the prevention of corruption of the Republic of Slovenia. The parties agreed to organize training events, exchange experiences and information on anti-corruption issues, expand cooperation between the two countries' anti-corruption agencies.
The visit will also include meetings with the Slovenian Parliament, the Ministry of Public Administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the judiciary, the Information Commission and Transparency International.
