A meeting was held February 28 at the office of the Anti-Corruption Agency with a delegation of Germany consisting of representatives of the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection, the General Prosecutor’s Office of North Rhine-Westphalia and the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ).
For reference: The Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection of the Federal Republic of Germany is the competent body that forms the state policy in the field of combating corruption, as well as regulates legislative activity.
In 2021, Germany was ranked 10th in Transparency International's Corruption Perceptions Index.
Umida Tukhtasheva, Deputy Director of the Agency, briefed the guests on the anti-corruption policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the reforms being implemented in this area, the adopted regulatory legal acts, as well as the ongoing work to establish a dialogue between the government and citizens.
During the meeting, representatives of the Agency and members of the delegation discussed the development of cooperation, holding joint events, seminars and training courses, as well as issues related to the prevention of conflicts of interest in the civil service, abuse of power and public funds, interaction in the field of consideration and taking measures to combat corruption, ensuring openness and transparency of the activities of government agencies.
The German delegation also received answers to questions about the activities of the Agency, the National Anti-Corruption Council and its regional councils, the activities of compliance control structures in government agencies and the experience of the Agency in involving the public in anti-corruption activities.
On the second day of the visit, the German delegation and representatives of the Anti-Corruption Agency will participate in the international conference on the theme ‘Pressing Issues of Combating Corruption: Experience of Uzbekistan and Germany’, organized by the Academy of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
