These days, a delegation of Uzbekistan is on a working visit to Japan with the aim to develop international and bilateral cooperation in the field of preventing and combating corruption.
Akmal Burkhanov, Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Uzbekistan, is to have a series of meetings with representatives of government bodies and organizations of Japan to discuss issues of establishing direct links with the country’s anti-corruption agencies, as well as international organizations, and prospects for further cooperation.
The Uzbek Anti-Corruption Agency Director has already held talks with Minister of Justice of Japan Yasuhiro Hanashi, Prosecutor General Yukio Kai, Parliamentary Minister for Foreign Affairs Yoshikawa Yuumi, President of the National Personnel Authority Yuko Kawamoto, Deputy Director of the Japan International Cooperation Agency Keithiro Nakazawa, Deputy Commissioner General of the National Police Agency and heads of other departments, during which an exchange of experience took place and joint projects were discussed.
Agreements were reached on cooperation several areas, including preventing conflicts of interest in the public service, creating an environment of intolerant attitude towards corruption in the public service, conducting anti-corruption expertise of legal documents, improving mechanisms for protecting whistleblowers, introducing advanced technologies to identify corruption factors and risks, etc.
