These days the World Bank experts are visiting Uzbekistan. On February 1, representatives of the Anti-Corruption Agency met with World Bank experts as part of the Infrastructure Governance Assessment in Central Asia Program.
The purpose of the mission is to assess the integrity of infrastructure projects in Uzbekistan throughout the entire project cycle - from planning, procurement and asset management, as well as identify gaps.
The meeting analyzed the available tools and mechanisms for eliminating risks in the development of the institutional structure, as well as infrastructure.
Particular attention was paid to the legal framework, covering both the prevention and prosecution of illegal acts.
Information was also provided on measures aimed at preventing conflicts of interest in the course of monitoring public procurement.
Following the meeting, World Bank experts stressed that by the end of the mission the legal, institutional and regulatory framework will be developed to improve the provision of infrastructure services, including recommendations for combating corruption.
