On May 8, 2023, by order of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, a public procurement was carried out in the amount of 1 billion 416 million soums for the creation and installation of a bronze monument to Alisher Navoi in Astana, Kazakhstan.
According to a study conducted by the Anti-Corruption Agency, in the course of this public procurement, the customer violated the requirements of Articles 10, 14 and 46 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan ‘On Public Procurement’ as well as other violations of the law committed.
In particular, the documents of three competition participants were uploaded to the electronic platform through a computer used by the chairperson and four members of the Procurement Commission (the same IP address).
In this regard, on the day of the public procurement, the customer was submitted a statutory notice to cancel the Protocol of the Procurement Commission, and the collected materials on the case were submitted to the Department on Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office.
On May 11, the Academy of Arts annulled the Protocol of the Procurement Commission.
