This February 22-23, the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, CESCR, considered the third periodic report of Uzbekistan on measures taken to implement the provisions of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
Akmal Burkhanov, Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, member of Uzbekistan delegation at the meeting, made report on the country’s anti-corruption policy, the implementation of international anti-corruption standards in Uzbekistan’s legislation and other ongoing reforms in this area.
For reference: The Republic of Uzbekistan submitted the Third Periodic Report to the Committee on June 19, 2019. About 30 government agencies and institutions as well as 10 NGOs took part in the preparation of this National Report.
In his speech, Akmal Burkhanov briefed on the activities of the Agency, the preventive measures taken in recent years, the Code of Ethics for civil servants, the trainings organized for citizens and civil servants on effective fight against corruption, as well as on the system for reporting corruption facts by individuals and legal entities.
Moreover, the Agency Director provided the experts with detailed information on the measures taken to combat corruption in the healthcare sector, in particular, on the implementation of the Sphere without Corruption Project and its outcomes.
