On March 14-16, the capital of Thailand hosted a Regional Meeting on the topic ‘Enhancing collaboration between supreme audit institutions and anti-corruption bodies to more effectively prevent and fight corruption’, organized within the framework of UNODC’s Abu Dhabi Declaration Program. Specialists of the Anti-Corruption Agency and the Accounts Chamber of Uzbekistan took part in the workshop.

For reference: The importance of inter-agency collaboration at the national, regional, and global levels to prevent and counter corruption is increasingly being acknowledged. Around the world, countries are working to establish closer cooperation between their auditing and anti-corruption authorities.

To this end, UNODC launched the Abu Dhabi Declaration Program in 2021, under its Global Program to prevent and combat corruption through effective implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption in support of Sustainable Development Goals, to promote the role of supreme audit institutions in tackling corruption and enhance their collaboration with anti-corruption bodies.

The workshop’s goal was to enhance collaboration between auditing and anti-corruption authorities at the national, regional and international levels, as well as to identify new areas of cooperation.

The event served as an important platform for an open discussion of new concepts and the latest practical developments in this area.

The workshop gathered 50 participants from 21 countries, including Indonesia, China, Japan, Malaysia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and others.
