Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency Akmal Burkhanov received June 20 a group of experts and representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency, JICA.
The purpose of the meeting was to identify new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation.
At the beginning of the dialogue, Akmal Burkhanov informed the guests about the essence of the state policy to combat corruption in Uzbekistan, and also noted the importance of the wide introduction of international standards and advanced foreign experience to further increase the effectiveness of reforms implemented in this track.
Noting the fruitful cooperation with Japan, in particular, with JICA, Akmal Burkhanov stressed the importance of consistently continuing a constructive dialogue and cooperation in the fight against corruption.
The meeting, discussed a wide range of issues, including strengthening the mechanism for detecting cases of conflict of interest and affiliation in the field of public procurement, organizing training of civil servants in the rules of ethics based on the principle of ‘integrity vaccine’, improving anti-corruption legislation and bringing mutual cooperation to a new level.
The JICA experts expressed their readiness to support the Agency’s important proposals and initiatives in these areas.
At the meeting, the parties decided to continue the discussion of these issues in the next dialogue, which will take place in the near future, in order to carefully consider the projects and activities planned for implementation in cooperation.
