A meeting was held June 20 in Khorezm Region addressing the situation with corruption and the efficiency of measures taken to prevent and combat corruption in the region, as well as and the hearing of reports by heads of regional government bodies in the field of combating corruption.

The Anti-Corruption Agency together with the Committee on Judicial Legal Issues and the Fight against Corruption of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the Khorezm Regional Anti-Corruption Council acted the organizers of the event.

The meeting initially discussed general measures to combat corruption in the region, the activities of the regional council, in particular, the results of studies conducted by the Anti-Corruption Agency in Khorezm Region in April-May this year.

Particular attention was paid to public procurement conducted by government bodies, the work done in the field of openness and transparency, and the activities of the internal anti-corruption control unit in the regional administration.

Also, during the meeting, information and plans of the heads of the systems of healthcare, preschool and school education, banking, and the cadastral system were heard, which recorded the highest rates of corruption in the region over the past period.

Following the meeting, a joint decision was made to eliminate the shortcomings. In the decision, the members of the Regional Anti-Corruption Council, the organizations and bodies responsible for combating corruption were tasked with eliminating corruption risks, informing the media and the general public about these processes.
