On May 20, 2021, by the invitation of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kamran Aliyev, a delegation led by Akmal Burkhanov, director of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Republic of Uzbekistan, began a visit to Azerbaijan Republic.
The visit is organised with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Azerbaijan.
The visit started with a dialogue between the two countries' delegations at the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Kamran Aliyev, General Prosecutor of the Republic of Azerbaijan, briefed on the work done to build a democratic and rule of law state in the country, international experience, reforms to further improve national legislation, taking into account new institutional mechanisms. He informed about the activities of the “ASAN Hizmat” and “DOST” centres, which play an important role in overcoming bureaucratic barriers by providing services to citizens. In his speech, Kamran Aliyev highlighted concrete examples of integrated measures taking into account the criteria of transparency and quality in the practice of the country.
In return, Akmal Burkhanov, Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Republic of Uzbekistan, thanked for the warm welcome and informed about the reforms in the judiciary and human interests in Uzbekistan, which had reached a new level. In particular, referring to the institutional changes in the fight against corruption in recent years, the director noted that an exchange of experience in this area would be beneficial to both sides.
At the meeting it was noted that due to the existing political will in both countries, the fight against bribery and corruption has a vital importance and normative documents and strategic actions are being implemented effectively.
During the visit, the sides exchanged views on cooperation in the legal field. They discussed the effectiveness of cooperation within international organisations and improvement of the existing legal cooperation agreements.
