On September 10 of the current year the Anti-Corruption Agency, the United Nations Regional Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the European Bank for Reconstructionand Development (EBRD) organized a roundtable discussion on "Ways to further improve the work of the Public Council under the Anti-Corruption Agency." As noted at the beginning of the round table, in order to ensure the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures to organize the activities of public councils under government agencies," the Public Council was established under the Agency on 15 January this year and has been contributing to the implementation of anti-corruption policy in our country. In particular, it presented its proposals and recommendations on the draft National Anti-Corruption Strategy for 2021-2025, the State Anti-Corruption Program for 2021-2022 and a number of regulations developed by the Agency. Nevertheless, there is a need to implement a number of activities to further improve the work of the Council. In this regard, with the involvement of experts from the UNODC and the EBRD the documents regulating the activities of the Public Council were revised and recommendations for improving the work of the Council were developed. In addition, international experts provided information on foreign experience in establishing cooperation between government agencies and civil society institutions in the fight against corruption. At the event, which was organized in the form of a dialogue, these proposals and recommendations were discussed with the participation of members of the Public Council. Relevant proposals have been developed to introduce the positive aspects of foreign experience into the work of the Council, to incorporate them into the work of councils under other government agencies. |
