By the presidential decree “On additional measures to improve the anti-corruption system in the Republic of Uzbekistan”, it was decided to rearrange the Republican Interdepartmental Anti-Corruption Commission and its territorial interagency commissions into the National Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Anti-Corruption (hereinafter - the National Council) and its territorial councils.
Today, in accordance with the plan fixed by the khokimiyat of the Fergana region, a constituent meeting of the Fergana Territorial Council for Combating Corruption was held. It was attended by the Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan Umida Tukhtasheva, members of the National Council, deputy khokim of the region Khurshidjon Akhmedov, heads of specialized organizations and departments of the region, as well as media representatives.
According to the agenda, initially, the composition of the regional (territorial) council, approved at a meeting of the National Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Combating Corruption on September 17, 2021, was presented.
Afterwards, the speakers noted that, despite the measures taken to combat corruption, the share of corruption offenses in this area is still preserved.
Currently, in order to eliminate such violations, to form an intolerant attitude towards the affection of corruption in the region, it is planned to ensure the functioning of regional councils and organize the implementation of state and other programs in the field of combating corruption, develop measures to improve the legal awareness and legal culture of the population.
In this regard, it is necessary to clearly define the tasks that each member of the Council should perform, including active work with the public and the media, special attention to propaganda work, departments and organizations of the region should conduct an inventory of the legal framework of their system and submit appropriate proposals to the National Council to eliminate norms that cause corruption and bureaucratic factors.
As a result, appropriate decisions were made on the issues discussed and important tasks for the future were identified.
