An online seminar was held February 22 on the presentation of the final report on the compilation of open data structure to combat corruption in Uzbekistan, developed by the International Open Data Charter with the support of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, OSCE.
For reference: Uzbekistan is the 23rd country that joined the International Open Data Charter, which is working to ensure the openness and transparency of data for more than 150 governments and organizations at the international level. The Anti-Corruption Agency of Uzbekistan worked closely with the Charter in the preparation of this report and in the framework of the Openness Forum held on December 3, 2021.
Natalia Carfi, Executive Director of the International Open Data Charter, and OSCE experts made presentations at the seminar. The event brought together about 30 employees of ministries and departments of Uzbekistan.
The experts discussed the current state of anti-corruption data in Uzbekistan, issues of expanding access to open data and their use in the fight against corruption.
In addition, the event focused on the accessibility of open data, its reuse and the interoperability of systems, which will further allow stakeholders to use open data as a practical tool.
They also exchanged views on issues of ensuring transparency of government activities, freedom of information, disclosure of information on the salaries of civil servants, accountability of government agencies and institutions, coordination of internal audit processes, transparency assessment, etc.
Following the seminar, the experts put forward practical proposals for improving the use of open data, including priorities, technical and regulatory recommendations for the creation of an anti-corruption data infrastructure in accordance with international standards, as well as proposals for data management.
