According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan ‘On additional measures to ensure the openness of the activities of government agencies and organizations, as well as the effective implementation of public control’, the Anti-Corruption Agency deals with the implementation of a range of important tasks, including coordination and constant monitoring of the openness of the activities of government agencies and organizations, regular replenishment of the list open data, strengthening public control, cultivating in civil servants a culture of accountability to the public.
In order to ensure timely and full disclosure of socially significant information to be posted as open data, the Agency organized a series of seminars on the theme ‘Ensuring openness in the activities of government agencies and organizations’ covering all regions of the republic.
Similar seminars have already been held in Ferghana, Sirdarya and Tashkent regions. This March 2, the seminar was held in the Tashkent city administration with the participation of district and city authorities.
Leading specialists of the Anti-Corruption Agency, representatives of the Senate Committee on Information Policy and Transparency in Government Agencies, the State Committee on Statistics, members of regional, city and district Councils of people’s representatives and members of the standing Commissions of the Councils on information policy and ensuring the openness of local authorities, specialists of internal control structures for combating corruption attended the seminar.
As already noted, in accordance with the Decree, the Agency coordinates work to ensure the openness of government agencies and organizations, constantly monitors their activities, in particular, regularly examines compliance by agencies and organizations with obligations to post information on the Internet in accordance with the legislation.
The results of the conducted studies show that mistakes and shortcomings are made in the full and timely implementation of the tasks set in the legislative acts in the field of openness.
At the seminar, specialists focused on eliminating shortcomings when posting information from the list of socially significant information to be posted as open data, and also discussed issues regarding the types of open information, resources for posting, the timing of submission and updating information.
A seminar on the theme ‘Ensuring openness in the activities of government agencies and organizations’ is scheduled for this March and April in all regions.
