On March 2, 1992, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as a new sovereign state, became a full member of the United Nations. Over the past period, the country has established trusting cooperation with the organization in many areas.
The fight against corruption is also one of the areas of cooperation. In 2008, Uzbekistan joined the UN Convention against Corruption.
After the establishment of the Anti-Corruption Agency, cooperation in this area has reached a new level. From the first days of its establishment, the UN Agency and its network organizations expressed their readiness for joint work.
Today, the Anti-Corruption Agency works closely with a number of organizations from the UN system, including the United Nations Development Program - UNDP, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime – UNODC, the United Nations Children’s Fund – UNICEF, etc.
In cooperation with organizations, the Agency implements joint projects, organizes various events, including seminars to improve the skills of employees, and provides expert assistance.
Among the most important recent events is Uzbekistan’s report to the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. The report also included issues of combating corruption, and the steps taken in this field in Uzbekistan were highly acknowledged by the experts of the Committee, in particular, the implementation of anti-corruption reforms in the country, the adoption of the Anti-Corruption Law and the establishment of the Anti-Corruption Agency.
