This March 15, the Anti-Corruption Agency held a meeting with representatives of the World Bank to determine specific areas of cooperation.
For reference: According to the Roadmap for the implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of Anna Bjerde, World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia, to Uzbekistan on May 14-19, 2021, the Agency was tasked with strengthening the institutional capacity to combat corruption in cooperation with the World Bank.
The Anti-Corruption Agency’s key specialists, the World Bank’s Senior Financial Management Specialist Elbek Yusupov, Senior Financial Sector Specialist Laura Pop and Senior Governance Specialist Daniela Felcman attended the meeting.
The parties discussed issues of expert assistance to the Agency in a range of areas, including creating an effective system for identifying corruption risks and declaring income, working with the public and introducing compliance control in the field of customs, as well as organizing trainings.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to work out specific projects within the framework of mutual cooperation and start expert assistance in the short run.
