This March 23, Akmal Burkhanov, Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, met with Suma Chakrabarti, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on economic development, good governance and international cooperation issues.
During the meeting, the Agency Director informed about the latest transformations took place in the field of combating corruption, ongoing reforms, and adopted regulatory acts. He also drew attention to the tasks entrusted to the Agency, the new mechanisms for eradicating corruption in the country and the work that needs to be done to improve the area.
For reference: In July-September 2021, online and offline meetings were held with the participation of the senior officials and key specialists of the Anti-Corruption Agency and representatives of the Uzbekistan Office of the Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Suma Chakrabarti.
Suma Chakrabarti and international experts had high opinion of the the work done in the field of combating corruption in a short time and agreed to provide expert assistance to further improve the activities of the Agency. In particular, they noted that practical assistance would be provided in conducting an independent assessment of the Agency’s powers and capacity.
Following the meeting, organized in the format of a dialogue, the parties agreed on constant coordinated work on the implementation of priority areas in fighting corruption.
