Uzbekistan delegation visiting the United States held talks April 26 with representatives of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs of the US Department of State.
For reference: The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) of the US Department of State renders assistance to countries in making government more transparent and accountable, and develops practical measures to prevent corruption.
At the meeting, the delegation of Uzbekistan put forward a number of initiatives aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation, in particular with the Anti-Corruption Agency.
The parties discussed the organization of special courses, trainings, the provision of regular expert assistance, the implementation of joint events and projects to improve the skills and potential of the Agency’s employees and civil servants in combating corruption.
The meeting participants decided to develop a Joint Action Plan between the Anti-Corruption Agency of Uzbekistan and the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs in order to bring bilateral relations to a new level.
On the same day, the delegation of Uzbekistan also met with representatives of the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Affairs within the US Department of State.

The report states that the establishment of the Anti-Corruption Agency and the National Anti-Corruption Council in Uzbekistan, as well as ongoing reforms in the provision of public services, have reduced various bureaucratic obstacles and petty corruption.
It was also noted that in 2021 the government began to create an electronic register of persons who committed corruption crimes in order to prevent the re-employment of former corrupt officials in government agencies.
Following the meeting, representatives of the two sides exchanged views on issues of further reforming the area.
