A regular meeting of the Regional Anti-Corruption Council of Jizzakh Region was held May 21, which heard the report on the activities of officials of local governments in the field of combating corruption.
The focus was made on the analysis of the work done to combat and prevent corruption in business entities with a state share.
Why is the level of corruption crimes in this area so high in the region, what are the causes and problems of these crimes? These and similar important issues were discussed with the leadership of the Anti-Corruption Agency, members of the National Anti-Corruption Council, representatives of relevant ministries and departments, and members of the Regional Council of people’s representatives.
The meeting participants noted, the majority of corruption crimes is committed by officials of economic entities with a state share. In 2021, 17 people were prosecuted in 12 criminal cases on corruption in Jizzakh Region.
During the discussions, it was recommended to prepare proposals for the transfer of many functions of economic entities with a state share to the private sector.
It was also recommended to law enforcement agencies, civil society institutions and the media to intensify interaction with the Regional Anti-Corruption Council to prepare proposals aimed at preventing corruption risks in the region.
Following the meeting, the responsible persons were given specific tasks to organize regular hearings on industries and systems with a high rate of corruption.
