The Kashkadarya Regional Anti-Corruption Council has held its regular meeting, which discussed the facts of corruption in the banking system and their causes.
Today, the banking sector is one of the most corrupt systems in the country. Only in 2021, 22 criminal cases were initiated against 29 people working in the banking sector in Kashkadarya Region.
The accused persons were charged with embezzlement, fraud, bribery, and abuse of office. Four of them are employees of the regional, and 25 employees of district and city banking service centers.
What are the causes of corruption, how to solve the existing problems?
At the meeting, reports were heard of the regional prosecutor and officials of the banking system on these issues.
The provided figures regarding corruption in the banking sector clearly demonstrate the need for further improvement of the system for combating and preventing corruption in the region. Departments and institutions were given the task of critically analyzing their activities.
During the discussion of the results of the monthly corruption rating conducted by the Anti-Corruption Agency, it was also noted that Kashkadarya Region has a high level of corruption compared to other regions.
In particular, one of the highest levels of corruption crime over the past three months has been recorded in the region. In February, the region ranked first with 45 criminal cases, and in March it was fourth with 46 criminal cases.
In order to eliminate such negative trends and improve the efficiency of anti-corruption work in the region, the Agency, together with the regional administration and the Regional Anti-Corruption Council, will implement the Region Without Corruption Project in Karshi District.
A Roadmap of the project, consisting of 29 clauses, has been developed and approved.
The meeting participants discussed in detail the main tracks of the Roadmap, issues of ensuring the timely and high-quality implementation of its goals and objectives.
As a result, proposals were developed on the issues under discussion, as well as specific goals and objectives for the effective implementation of anti-corruption reforms in the region.
