This June 15, Akmal Burkhanov, Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, received Roli Astkhana, UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan.
The main purpose of the meeting was to develop cooperation between the Agency and the UN, discuss ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan in the field of combating corruption, and future joint projects.
During the meeting, the head of the Agency informed international partners about the ongoing anti-corruption reforms in the country, as well as innovations and changes in legislation.
In particular, he stressed the importance of the recently adopted Presidential Decree ‘On Measures to Implement a System for Increasing and Evaluating the Level of Openness in the Activities of Government Agencies and Organizations’ in creating a comprehensive analysis of the system for monitoring and evaluating the fulfillment of obligations established by the legislation on the openness of the activities of government agencies and organizations.
The Agency officials noted that international experience, proposals and recommendations of experts would play an important role in the successful implementation of new strategies based on modern trends in the fight against corruption.
In turn, Roli Astkhana praised the ongoing reforms in the country and their effectiveness, noting that all the positive changes taking place in Uzbekistan are reflected in the relevant international rankings and reports.
The meeting participants reached an agreement to continue cooperation in various areas of combating corruption, including the development of mutual cooperation through the implementation of new joint projects.
Roli Astkhana stated that the UN is ready to provide expert and other assistance in various areas.
