On June 28, the Anti-Corruption Agency organized the Youth Integrity Day. The Agency for Youth Affairs, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Ministry of the Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Innovative Development and the UN Development Program acted the co-organizers of the event.
The senior executives of these organizations and departments, as well as young people from different regions of the republic participated in it.
Currently, the Anti-Corruption Agency and UNDP are implementing their joint initiative - the project ‘Strengthening civic space and voice of women and youth to enhance the role of the Anti-Corruption Agency in Uzbekistan.’
One of the main goals of the project is to build a demand for integrity in society by creating an anti-corruption civil space, consisting of civil society institutions, women’s nongovernmental nonprofit organizations, the media and social communities.
Thus, it is supposed to strengthen the voice and role of women and youth in society.
Within the framework of this project, the Youth Integrity Day was organized with the aim of strengthening young people’s intolerant attitude towards corruption, actively involving them in the fight against this evil by widely promoting integrity.
At the opening ceremony of the event, Akmal Burkhanov, Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, spoke about the measures taken by the Agency to create an attitude of intolerance towards corruption among young people.
The organizers of the event noted that in order to ensure the implementation of the Roadmap for the execution of the Concept for State Youth Policy Development in Uzbekistan by 2025 in 2021-2022, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan of January 18, 2021, ‘The program of measures for the formation of a worldview and a strong civic position in the fight against corruption among young people’, consisting of 21 items was developed jointly with the Prosecutor General’s Office, and approved by the leadership of the Anti-Corruption Agency, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Agency for Youth Affairs. Control over the consistent and timely execution of the Program items is carried out on a regular basis.
The first session of the event themed ‘Integrity as the basis for the fight against corruption, as well as the role of youth in the country’s anti-corruption policy’ actively discussed the measures taken in this track and their results.
Another session themed ‘Corruption through the eyes of youth’ considered the issues of involving young people in the process of fighting corruption. Following the event, the young participants expressed their opinions and made proposals on the issues.
