A visit of a delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Switzerland has begun, organized in cooperation with the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Federal Republic of Germany, the Embassy of Switzerland in Uzbekistan and the United Nations Development Program.
The purpose of the visit is to exchange experience in the areas of corruption prevention and the implementation of effective management, to establish mutual cooperation between the competent authorities of the two countries, including the introduction of international standards in the field, the introduction of compliance control system for effective management and prevention of corruption.
On the first day of the visit, the delegation met with the senior officials and experts of the Basel Institute of Governance and the International Center for Asset Recovery, during which the parties discussed issues related to the effective management and recovery of assets, the implementation of a compliance control system. The Uzbek delegation got acquainted with the projects implemented under the Green Corruption program as well.
For reference: The Basel Institute of Governance, established in 2003, is an independent organization that conducts research, introduces practical mechanisms and implements projects on the prevention of corruption and good governance in foreign countries, as well as the public and private sectors at the international level.
Following the meeting, the Anti-Corruption Agency and the Basel Institute agreed on the launch of joint projects to strengthen institutional capacity in the field in Uzbekistan.
During the visit, the delegation of Uzbekistan will hold bilateral meetings with the Office of the Attorney-General of Switzerland, the Interdepartmental Working Group on Combating Corruption of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Swiss Federal Audit Office, Transparency International Switzerland, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and other government agencies.
