Akmal Burkhanov, Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held July 26 an online meeting with Sugiyama Naoshi, President of Nagoya University and Matsuo Seiichi, Head of the Tokai National Higher Education and Research System.
The Japanese side recognized the relevance of the anti-corruption reforms being carried out by Uzbekistan and announced the mutual benefit for our countries of developing relations with the Agency, as well as deepening cooperation in the field of education and scientific research in combating corruption.
Then Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency continued his dialogue with the executives of the Center for Asian Legal Exchange. The parties exchanged views on the issues of training employees in the field of combating corruption, the implementation of joint research projects, the exchange of experience and information.
During the virtual meeting, Akmal Burkhanov, Director of the Agency, proposed holding seminars and trainings on combating corruption and improving the knowledge of civil servants with the involvement of experts and professors from Japanese universities. He also proposed to improve the qualifications of civil servants by organizing short-term courses in Japan.
Executives of the Center for Asian Legal Exchange expressed their readiness to support proposals and initiatives of the Uzbek side.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on cooperation in anti-corruption education of citizens and civil servants, joint activities related to the creation of anti-corruption programs and research.
