On September 5-8, Vienna hosted an Intersessional Meeting of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).
Umida Tukhtasheva, Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan, delivered a speech.
The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the status of the implementation of the Political Declaration ‘Our common commitment to effectively addressing challenges and implementing measures to prevent and combat corruption and strengthen international cooperation’, adopted at a special session of the UN General Assembly.
At the event, representatives of the international community received detailed information on the main reforms implemented in Uzbekistan in recent years, as well as a number of initiatives undertaken to introduce advanced mechanisms and tools to combat corruption.
In particular, the implementation of the state anti-corruption program, the introduction of internal anti-corruption ‘compliance’ control units in government authorities and administration, ensuring the openness of the activities of government agencies and organizations, conducting anti-corruption expertise of legal acts, rating assessment of the effectiveness of anti-corruption activities, etc.
