The Anti-Corruption Agency organizes a series of seminars for regional anti-corruption councils in order to ensure the implementation of the tasks set to prevent corruption in the regions, as well as to convey the essence of the adopted legal documents.
During the seminar, organized this October 19, the Agency’s specialists presented information on liability for corruption offenses.
About 200 representatives of regional anti-corruption councils attended the seminar, who also got acquainted with the novelties and upcoming changes in this area.
In particular, it was noted that proposals were made to the Criminal Code to systematize crimes related to corruption and increase liability for this category of crimes.
Also, special attention was paid to the analysis of corruption crimes by regions. The issues of eliminating negative indicators and strengthening public control in areas with an increased risk of corruption, organizing expert groups consisting of representatives of academic circles, public organizations, the media and law enforcement agencies in the regions were discussed.
It was noted that it was necessary to establish relations with regional NGOs that won the competition for the active involvement of civil society institutions in the processes of combating corruption, as well as the joint implementation of all the tasks provided for in the projects.
In turn, representatives of the regional councils spoke about the emerging problems of involving the media and journalists in the processes of combating corruption and expressed their proposals for eliminating this problem.
At the end of the event, proposals were put forward on the agenda items.
