The second resumed 13th session of the Implementation Review Group, 16th Open-ended Intergovernmental Working Group on Asset Recovery and 11th Open-ended intergovernmental expert meeting to enhance international cooperation under the United Nations Convention against Corruption are taking place these days in Vienna, Austria.
Representatives of more than 100 countries participate in the events, including the delegation of Uzbekistan, consisting of representatives of the Anti-Corruption Agency and the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The sessions address issues of improving the operation of the Convention’s review mechanism, phases and cycles of the review of implementation of the Convention in the member-states, as well as organizational issues for the ten conferences scheduled for 2023 under the Convention.
For reference: to date, two phases of reviewing the implementation of the Convention against Corruption are underway in Uzbekistan, and the implementation of Chapters 2 and 5 of the Convention in Uzbekistan is being studied by representatives of the anti-corruption authorities of Nigeria and the Republic of Maldives, as well as UNODC experts.
The sessions, scheduled for five days, will discuss the problems and difficulties faced by the member-states to the Convention in the implementation of this international instrument, as well as best practices and views on improving the review mechanism.
