On November 14, the Anti-Corruption Agency leadership held a meeting with the delegation of the International Monetary Fund, led by Ron van Roden, Head of the IMF Representative Office in Uzbekistan.
For reference: In April, 2022, a meeting was held between representatives of the two organizations, at which they exchanged views on the implementation of anti-corruption policy in Uzbekistan, the tasks and powers of the Agency in this area.
At the meeting, Umida Tukhtasheva, Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, informed the guests about the latest reforms in the field of combating corruption, in particular, about the most important changes in the activities of the Agency and other authorities in the implementation of anti-corruption policy in the legislation.
In particular, she provided detailed information on the creation of a system for assessing the effectiveness of combating corruption in government agencies and organizations, the effectiveness of ongoing work to establish a policy of openness in government agencies and organizations, the introduction of the Openness Index, as well as changes in the regulation of public procurement.
Ron van Roden, Head of the IMF Office in Uzbekistan, praised the achievements of Uzbekistan.
The meeting discussed the current state of implementation of the system for declaring income and property of civil servants, expanding the Open Data List, extending the participation of medium and small businesses in public procurement, as well as the measures taken to eliminate problems and shortcomings in this area.
During the dialogue, issues of interaction and cooperation of the Agency with other government institutions conducting anti-corruption activities, civil society institutions and the media were also discussed.
