The Anti-Corruption Agency held meeting November 16 with representatives of the Office of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Uzbekistan.
The meeting discussed the work to be carried out with the Agency within the framework of the Good Governance in Uzbekistan Project, developed by the current GIZ Program ‘Development of Legal Statehood in Central Asia’.
First, brief information was given on the measures taken in the field of combating corruption in Uzbekistan, the current legal documents and projects implemented by the Agency in this area.
After that, the parties shared views on the main goals and areas of the Good Governance in Uzbekistan Project, as well as the timing of implementation, and on the tasks of the involved partner ministries and departments.
The meeting participants noted that within the framework of this project, it is envisaged to strengthen the capacity of personnel in the field of combating corruption, provide technical assistance, ensure openness in the activities of government organizations and in the public procurement process, as well as cooperation in the widespread use of information technologies in the prevention of corruption.
Also, representatives of the German Society for International Cooperation expressed their readiness to provide expert support in the development of strategies, legislative documents and projects to combat corruption in Uzbekistan.
