This November 16, the delegation of Uzbekistan headed by the director of the Anti-Corruption Agency began its visit to France.
On the first day of the visit, the Anti-Corruption Network (ACN) of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) held a High-Level Meeting of Anti-Corruption Decision-Makers in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
For reference: The high-level meeting is attended by heads of anti-corruption councils and parliamentary committees, ministers and heads of departments responsible for combating corruption, heads of public organizations that promote combating corruption.
In his speech, Akmal Burkhanov, Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Uzbekistan, spoke about the institutional reforms being carried out in the field of preventing and combating corruption in Uzbekistan, including the introduction of integrity standards in the public service, ensuring openness and transparency in the activities of government agencies and organizations, introducing the principles of integrity in the field of public procurement and entrepreneurship. Also, the head of the Agency provided information on the measures being implemented and changes to increase liability for corruption crimes.
“The introduction of advanced international standards in the field of combating corruption and its prevention serves to further improve national legislation and carry out institutional reforms, as well as an objective assessment of achievements, identify existing problems and eliminate them,” Akmal Burkhanov noted.
During the meeting, the participants discussed issues of expanding the scale of international and regional cooperation in the fight against corruption.
