Akmal Burkhanov, Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, met March 10 with Suguru Miyazaki, Head of Uzbekistan Office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
At the meeting, Akmal Burkhanov briefed on the state policy and ongoing reforms in the field of preventing and combating corruption in Uzbekistan. He also emphasized the fruitful cooperation with Japan in this area.
For his part, the head of JICA Uzbekistan Office highly evaluated the changes and measures taken in this area, and expressed readiness to further strengthen the constructive dialogue and cooperation between the two countries, including in the field of combating corruption.
In particular, the parties discussed the issues of studying the Japanese experience of civil service ethics and regulation of the public procurement system, the widespread introduction of information technologies in the process of preventing corruption in cooperation with JICA, and the involvement of Japanese experts in the formation of anti-corruption policy.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue working on the development of joint projects and training programs, as well as studying Japan’s experience in combating corruption.
