The Anti-Corruption Agency hosted a meeting March 27 with representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in Uzbekistan and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
The meeting discussed in detail the development of mutual cooperation, in particular, the identification and implementation of specific areas of cooperation within the framework of the new Effective Governance in Uzbekistan Project aimed at supporting administrative reforms and fighting corruption in Uzbekistan.
For reference: The Effective Governance in Uzbekistan Project was developed by the Republic of Latvia together with the representative office of the Delegation of the European Union in Tashkent and the representative office of the German Agency for International Cooperation.
In particular, the parties shared views on a number of issues, including analysis and assessment of the regulatory framework in the field of combating corruption, studying the application of international documents to national legislation, conducting a social survey to determine the level of perception of corruption by the population.
The issues of holding joint events, organizing workshops and trainings with responsible organizations and departments of Latvia, as well as developing special training programs, including programs to improve the skills of the Agency’s employees, were also discussed.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on accelerating work on the discussed areas of cooperation and further implementation of mutually beneficial proposals presented by the Agency.
