On April 17-18, a delegation of Uzbekistan headed by the Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency visited Estonia, during which a number of meetings with representatives of government agencies and research institutions was held.
In particular, at a meeting with representatives of the Estonian Public Procurement Authority, the Uzbek side was provided with detailed information about the main tasks of the Authority and the processes for their effective implementation.
During the conversation, special emphasis was placed on the issue of effective operation and control of the Estonian Public Procurement Register online platform. As a result, an agreement was reached to analyze the positive aspects of this online platform and implement joint projects to introduce transparent mechanisms in the field of public procurement in Uzbekistan.
The delegation members also met with the representatives of the e-Governance Academy and got acquainted with the efficient operation of the e-government established in the country with the help of the Academy’s leading specialists.
It is worth noting that the Academy also conducts training courses for specialists from developing countries and annually accepts candidates for training for up to three months.
During the meeting, the possibilities of developing training courses for employees of anti-corruption departments of government agencies, the wider introduction of digital technologies, and the implementation of database integration projects in cooperation with the e-Governance Academy were discussed.
On the second day of the visit, the representatives of the delegation held meetings with the leadership of the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Justice of Estonia, during which they got acquainted with the activities of these ministries in a number of areas related to keeping statistics on corruption crimes, analyzing their causes, and ensuring the openness of the activities of the ministries.
In particular, at a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of the Interior, focus was made on identification of corruption crimes, public control in this track, as well as the involvement of the media in this process.
The representatives of the delegation got acquainted with the electronic tools and platforms used in Estonia in this area.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to exchange experience and conduct special trainings for law enforcement officers of Uzbekistan.
At the meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Justice of Estonia, issues of forming an anti-corruption policy in the country, coordinating the activities of government bodies and measures aimed at preventing corruption were discussed.
The Ministry provided information on the work done by the Ministry on ensuring the openness of government bodies and organizations, active involvement of young people in the process of combating corruption, as well as projects implemented in these tracks.
The achievement of a number of important agreements, including the exchange of experience and the establishment of cooperation in the fight against corruption, as well as the implementation of promising projects, speaks of the effectiveness of the visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan to Estonia.
