On May 18, Kazakhstan’s Almaty hosted the International Workshop ‘Enhancing Anti-Corruption Due Diligence & Collaboration in International Investment Projects’. Representatives of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan also took part in the workshop.
The workshop, organized by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, was attended by a number of international experts and representatives from Austria, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Mongolia, Iran, China, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Montenegro.
UNODC Regional Anti-Corruption Adviser delivered a presentation on ‘Anti-Corruption and Integrity in the Activities of the Investment Promotion Agency’, in which special emphasis was placed on the need to rely on close cooperation with the anti-corruption bodies of these organizations in foreign investment.
The importance of introducing into their experience the recommendations of UNODC and other international anti-corruption mechanisms (GRECO, Istanbul Action Plan) was also emphasized.
The workshop participants shared information about their national experience in combating corruption in international investment projects.
