On June 20, the leadership of the Anti-Corruption Agency met with Ambassador Igli Hasani, Coordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities.
At the meeting, the main results of cooperation between the Agency and the OSCE, as well as plans for the future, were discussed in detail.
It should be noted that the OSCE is one of the important international partners of the Agency. In 2021, relations were established with the anti-corruption agencies of the OSCE member countries, and a Memorandum was signed with the OSCE Secretariat of Economic and Environmental Dimension.
The Action Plan 2021-2022 was signed with the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan. The expert and technical support of this organization was of great importance in the development of the Openness Index Methodology and the Open Index electronic platform, aimed at assessing the effectiveness of the work carried out to ensure the openness of the activities of government agencies and organizations.
At the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the issues of consistent continuation and systematization of effective cooperation between the two organizations.
In particular, the Agency, with the support of OSCE and Open Data Charter, put forward a proposal to consider the issue of Uzbekistan’s membership in Open Government Partnership.
Also, taking into account the positive results of the Openness Index, introduced for the first time in Uzbekistan, special attention was paid to further improving the methodology and inclusion of local government bodies in the assessment process.
In addition, at the meeting, the participants paid special attention to the issues of active involvement of civil society institutions, in particular, NGOs, the media and the general public in the process of combating corruption, organizing workshops and trainings aimed at strengthening intolerance for corruption in society.
Recognizing the importance of such proposals and initiatives, Ambassador Igli Hasani said that the OSCE is ready to support them and continue cooperation with the Anti-Corruption Agency.
