On July 11-12, an online training was held on the topic "The role of investigative journalism in covering corruption and corruption-related crimes."
The training was attended by representatives of the media, heads of press services of state bodies and organizations, as well as students receiving journalism education.
The training was organized by the Anti-Corruption Agency of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Uzbekistan Office of Regional Dialogue INO, Slovenia, and Pioneer Institute for Public Policy Research, USA.
During the training, the participants got acquainted with foreign experience in organizing and conducting investigative journalism, the processes of formation of this area and the legal framework. There was also an exchange of views on the problems and challenges that journalists face during investigations.
The training was conducted by Jim Stergios, Executive Director of Pioneer Institute, and experts Mary Connaughton and Chris Sinacola.

On the first day of the training, theoretical issues were discussed with practical examples, and on the second day, the training was held in an interactive form, the exchange of opinions and ideas took place, and experts answered questions from the participants.
In particular, the training participants made focus on the issues related to legislative requirements and criteria for observing professional ethics in conducting journalistic investigations, existing guarantees for media representatives, protecting journalists, as well as using the capabilities of artificial intelligence in the preparation of journalistic materials related to corruption.
