The Anti-Corruption Agency hosted a meeting August 24 with a delegation of Qatar led by Ali Bin Fetais Al-Marri, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Center, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Special Advocate on the Prevention of Corruption.
The main purpose of the meeting was to exchange experience and identify prospects for cooperation with Qatari partners in combating corruption and ensuring the rule of law.
During the meeting, Ali Bin Fetais Al-Marri highly appreciated the important measures being taken in this area with the political will of the head of our country, and noted that Uzbekistan is achieving significant positive results in this area among the countries of the region, which is reflected in the annual increase in its position in international rankings and indices related to the fight against corruption.
Also, within the framework of the dialogue, the issue of organizing in Uzbekistan the next ceremony of presenting a special international award established in the field of combating corruption was discussed.
Akmal Burkhanov, Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, noted that he was especially pleased that such an important event would be held in our country and that Uzbekistan would become a platform for interaction between leading foreign and international anti-corruption experts and public activists, who would further unite and strengthen the efforts of the world community in the fight with corruption.
After that, the parties held negotiations on the future exchange of experience in the field of combating corruption, the implementation of trainings, internships and joint projects aimed at increasing the potential and qualifications of the Agency officers, as well as cooperation in other areas.
The parties reached an agreement to organize a visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan to Qatar this September, within the framework of which the prospects for mutual cooperation with a number of government bodies of this country responsible for the fight against corruption will be discussed.
At the end of the meeting, it was noted that effective cooperation between Uzbekistan and Qatar is mutually beneficial for both countries.
