October 11, at the proposal of the Administrative Control Authority of the Arab Republic of Egypt a delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency Akmal Burkhanov began its visit to Egypt.
The main purpose of the visit is to strengthen bilateral relations in combating corruption, ensuring the implementation of the tasks set in this area at the meetings of the heads of the two states, as well as identifying the main areas of cooperation.
On the first day of the visit, members of the delegation visited the Administrative Control Authority.
For reference: The Administrative Control Authority is an independent body in the Arab Republic of Egypt that exercises administrative and financial control over government agencies. The organization was established in 1964. The Administrative Control Authority is the body responsible for combating corruption, developing legislation and other mechanisms related to this area, anti-corruption education and training of employees, raising public awareness about preventing and combating corruption, as well as implementing international standards into national legislation.
At the meeting, the parties presented information on the ongoing work to combat corruption in the two countries, and considered mechanisms for the constant exchange of experience at the organizational level, as well as discussed future plans.
The main event of the meeting was the signing of an interdepartmental Memorandum.
The Memorandum provides for mutual cooperation in a number of important areas, including the organization of professional trainings, exchange of experience and development of human resources, sharing information and professional materials on preventing and combating corruption, holding joint forums, workshops and trainings.
In addition, for to increase public engagement in the prevention and fight against corruption, the parties are planning to launch information exchange on anti-corruption education, as well as awareness raising through the media and various campaigns.
Akmal Burkhanov, Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Uzbekistan, and Amr Adel Hosni, Chairman of the Administrative Control Authority of Egypt, both emphasized the importance of this agreement for both parties, which would take cooperation to a new level.
A presentation was also organized for representatives of the Anti-Corruption Agency on the practice of digitalization in Egypt, electronic tools and programs used in the activities of the anti-corruption authority, the possibilities of their use by other departments, as well as the progress made in preventing and combating crime in this regard.
